Siddha and Unani Medicine

Siddha science is a traditional treatment system produce from Tamil culture. Palm leaf manuscripts say that the Siddha system was first described by Lord Shiva to his wife Parvathi. Parvathi give an explanation of all this knowledge to her son Lord Muruga. He taught all these knowledge to his intelligent Agastya. Agastya taught 18 Siddhas and they spread this knowledge to human beings 21.

"Siddha system of medicine make a point of that medical treatment is oriented not hardly to disease, but also has to take into account the patient, environment, age, habits, physical condition". Siddha literature is in Tamil and it is mostly practiced in Tamil speaking parts of India and abroad.

The unani System of medicine is based on established knowledge and practices relating to promotion of positive health and prevention of diseases. Although Unani system derived in Greece, passed over many countries, Arabs enriched it with their aptitude and experience and the system was brought to India during Medieval period. Unani System emphasise the use of naturally occurring, most alternative medicines, though it uses ingredients of animal and marine origin.
